How to calculate a tip and split a bill
Tip = bill × tip percentage ÷ 100. Total = bill + tip. Per-person amount = total ÷ number of people.
Worked example
For an $80 bill, an 18% tip is $14.40. The total is $94.40, or $23.60 each when split four ways.

Frequently asked questions
Should I calculate a tip before or after tax?
Practices differ. Enter the amount you want to use as the tip base. If you prefer a pre-tax tip, enter the pre-tax subtotal.
How does the bill split work?
The calculator divides the entire bill and tip equally among the selected number of people. It does not account for individual orders.
